  1. Welcome to SNIPPETS!

  3.   All the code I put into SNIPPETS for distribution is Public Domain or free
  4. to the best that I can determine. What this means is that:
  5.  
  6. 1.  I know or can contact the original author(s) to verify the presumed
  7.     copyright ownership, and
  8.  
  9. 2.  The work bears an explicit Public Domain notice, or
  10.  
  11. 3.  The work was published without a copyright notice prior to the effective
  12.     date of the new copyright law.
  13.  
  14.   This has been occasionally annoying when I've had to pass up some useful
  15. piece of code because it's questionable whether anyone can use it without
  16. incurring liability (distributing someone else's property makes me an
  17. accessory, doncha know).
  18.  
  19.   Since SNIPPETS includes both public domain and free code, be sure to
  20. carefully read each header for any free license restrictions which may
  21. apply. The only file which currently contains such restrictions is GREP.C
  22. which is copyrighted but freely licensed from DECUS.

  24. Distribution:
  25.  
  26.   Starting with the April 1992 version, SNIPPETS is distributed in two files:
  27.  
  28. SNIPmmyy.LZH is the full SNIPPETS collection.
  29. SNPDmmyy.LZH contains only the files changes since the last release.
  30.  
  31.   SNIPPETS is distributed through the FidoNet Programmer's Distribution
  32. Network (PDN), or BIX. The SNIPPETS files are also available from my "home"
  33. BBS, Comm Port One, (713) 980-9761, FidoNet address 1:106/2000 using the
  34. "magic" F'req names of "SNIPPETS" and "SNIPDIFF".
